Your business works hard for you every day. Sure, you give it money and everything it needs but sometimes it’s nice to do that little bit of extra care for your business. It deserves a spa day, and by that, I mean it deserves some attention to the small details to make sure everything is running smoothly. Here are some things you can do for your business spa day to make sure your business is looking its best.
One of the first things you can do is Google your business. Look online with fresh eyes to see what new potential customers see. Does it look the way you want it to? Does it represent your brand as it should? Make sure your name, address, and phone number are correct and are the same across the board on both your website and all listing sites like Yelp and Google +. You don’t want people to be confused by having different listings with varying information. Just think of all the sales you could be missing by having customers calling an old wrong number or going to an old address. That kind of issue can cause business wrinkles and is an easy fix.
Check for bad reviews and address them. You can do a Google search for these reviews, as well as check your Google + listings, Facebook, Yelp, and any other social media listings or accounts. There are ways to turn those negative reviews into something positive. Make sure you take the time to address each one and respond to it. Explain your side, apologize, or offer a resolution. This shows other possible customers how you handle those types of situations and can even boost brand loyalty by making those disgruntled customers feel heard. By listening and responding it is possible to make that lost client into your biggest supporter.
Change Old Images
Give your business a facelift and get rid of all your old images and logos. Google images has a lot of traffic and you don’t want your business to show up with old, outdated images, images that are of poor quality, or even old logos. Make sure your business is showing its best face and keep your images current. Try to use as many unique photos as possible instead of using stock photos.
Social Media Love
Another thing you can do to give your business a boost is to check your inboxes on all of your social media platforms. Make sure you check your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Messages mean your customers are engaging with you but in the hustle and bustle of the day, sometimes messages can get pushed to the back burner and forgotten. Take time to clean out your inbox and respond to posts and messages. This shows your customers they are important and are not just a number to you. It is typically best to respond to direct messages within 24 hours. Even if you make a habit of checking your inboxes already it never hurts to double check, just to make sure you didn’t miss one.

Go online and check each page of your website. This is a good thing to regularly to make sure you catch any issues before your customers do. You want to make sure all images are loading properly and that all the links on your site are working. Do a quick check of all lead capture forms. This includes your contact us form, pop-ups asking for a subscription, and any landing page you may have. Also, you want to make sure your site is loading quickly. Google wants your site to load within half a second for ranking. If your site is loading too slow you may want to check with your design company or hosting company to see what you can do to improve your load time. A slow website affects not only your ranking but also can affect your bank balance as people tend to leave websites that take too long to load, which means lost sales and lost money.
One way you can speed up your website speed is to keep it clean and easy to read. Each bell and whistle you add does add more “weight” to your site and causes it to load slower. Make sure your images are all compressed to the smallest size file possible. Try using plugins like WP Smush Pro or websites like TinyPNG to do image compressions. You want to make sure your font is big enough to be readable and that your logo and color scheme look just the way you want.

The best way to explain this concept (if you already know what this means then you can skip ahead) is to think of your website as a newspaper. A newspaper is folded in half and the key stories are located on the front page above the place where the newspaper folds. It needs to be the same with your website. Imagine your site’s home page folded in half. You want your main information to be at the top including your primary call to action (like contact us now, sign up now, etc.). You want to make sure your phone number and other contact information is at the top of each page.

Make sure your site is mobile friendly. So many customers today do their shopping or research on mobile devices. If your site isn’t mobile responsive you will lose our as potential customers will leave your site if it doesn’t work on their mobile device. Most of the consumer market does its shopping online.
